You think you're protected because you go as big as you can on racism, you spend years harassing the movement's perceived enemies, you even disavow your own sexuality. I've sensed a tremendous hunger out there for great and lasting movies/tv series that say something essential about our times. But streaming, where even the most prestigious offerings regularly vanish without a trace, by its nature isn't going to produce such things.

Every other year or so now another "prestige" streaming series where everyone solemnly declaims it's Art Capturing the Essential Truth of Our Collective Life in This Hyper-Capitalist Moment & then almost immediately post-finale it's never mentioned again, like it didn't actually matter or something.

It is funny that as more people get duped by AI, the response more frequently seems to be to insist that the models are developing godlike intelligence and we all need to be sooo careful when the real lesson is clearly that the human psyche can get absolutely one-shotted by personalized flattery

Wooooooweeee was I wrong about Graham Platner. I mean I always knew he was a chud, & what can come with that, but still had opinion that he was an improvement over status quo. It was odd he was accepted by so many despite his connection to Blackwater, but ok, this was the guy. But chud gonna chud.
