Without physical discs and a second hand market there is absolutely no reason to go console over a PC. PC may not have a second hand market, but it has competing digital storefronts, whereas console does not. If new consoles can't even play Blu-ray, there is 0 remaining appeal.

Absolutely fucked that out of several studios I could've worked with post leaving WB that making Mindseye was somehow the right call, with all the other games getting cancelled, studios closing down or union busting.

A year or so ago when a new prolifically talented and internationally famous Professor of extremely difficult science discipline started living nearby I would ask 'why come to Scotland?'. Now I no longer even have to ask, because the answer is always 'Trump cuts forced us to relocate'.

While I agree there is an art direction & cinematography problem in games, this is like blaming the issue of badly lit movies on digital cameras. It's not *completely* unrelated, but there are more accurate & productive ways to diagnose the issue.
my one big takeaway from this years pile of Showcases is that Unreal Engine 5 has co-opted or sort of, I dare say, polluted the visual language of games, where nothing stands out
