I’m a retired minister of The United Church of Canada, fascinated by astronomy, geology, fungi, and committed to social and racial justice. Unknown roads thrill me.

Completely unexpected. I only saw this a few minutes ago. No idea when it emerged. No idea what it is cause it isn't the normal flower pot mushroom. #FungusSunday

#thisisaboutlife #cancer#faith

Two years before my cancer diagnosis I felt a longing to embrace death. Some family experiences broke my heart and almost broke my spirit. I dreamed blood flowed from my breasts. Not much commitment to life. I pray to be faithful to my God given life.

Fifty years ago when I was married with a baby our weekly grocery bill was $10. Yesterday I bought 1 normal bag of apples for $9.

What is mysticism? Is it a vision, a voice, an experience? Is it limited to a specific time and place? Or is it a response to an unexpected experience? Is it a relationship? Let's chat.

I was a Beta tester for Gander Social and think an all Canadian social network is a necessary idea but I'm usually at a loss about how to make things work. So I ended up unable to transition to it when it went public. i don't know how to get back in. Verification is ugly. help.

What happened in Newfoundland? In May I drove to Newfoundland from Ontario. 8511 km return trip. Aside from the disintegration of my Fitbit I came home with lots of stuff and a strong visual and emotional connection. Jewelry and fossils. Rocks.

Thank you to everyone for posting these pictures. They make me smile on a cold, wet, chilly day that has seen snow, sleet, fog and rain in southern Ontario. Your posts take me back to my foraging and exploring days in northern Manitoba. And may all of you enjoy this holy season.

I think the idea of an Advent Art Calendar is wonderful. Here is a collage I made of many of the fungal drawings I did across Canada.

As much as an oncologist will say - I have graduated from Cancer! The reality of that thrills me, shakes me. I want to dance and sing and twirl about. Thank you to everyone who has prayed for me, made me laugh, put up with my obsession with cancer, and used medical skills.
