This is a good video! I enjoyed reading Nimble even though it isn't my style of game, and Veneon continues to improve his style with every video.

(secret bonus: Veneon has a custom system-agnostic dungeon turn design hidden in this video! i think it's really well put together, go check it out!)

There are so many awesome homebrew playbooks being actively worked on, it's a dream.
I have GOT to be a player in a Stonetop campaign. I'm dying for it, dawg.

The upload is super duper slow, but this is a more edited video than usual covering my favourite booths at the Smithed Summit Minecraft Convention- it was a blast, and I highly recommend anyone who it interests to hop on before they close on Monday!

I finished my four-day attendance of the @smithed.net Minecraft Summit— a vanilla/datapack creators convention— last night. It was an absolute joy, and I'm going back and forth on either expanding on it here, in a blog post, or in video form.

Check it out if you like Minecraft! It's worth it.

I have more babies floating lifelessly in my pool than I know what to do with.
The advice "Don't make your first project a overambitious sprawling epic" is good. The problem is that I don't think people can really learn that lesson before they ignore the advice and just do it anyways. Sometimes you have to throw the baby into the pool to teach it how to swim.

Been considering making smaller, less "designed" videos and essays— things like first time read-throughs, isolated design thoughts, off-hand critiques. Problem is I'm not sure stuff so small is worth all the effort it takes to make a video. Maybe I could make it its own series?

This video is coming out months after recording due to some production issues, but my love for the PBTA space has only grown in the time between.

But yeah! I discuss how PBTA moves work and what it looks like when the system you're running actually aids the GMing process!

This is a good thread.

In short, yeah. This is one of the biggest kinds of player entitlement I see, and it's something that trad mechanics encourage through their adversarial design; play as "conquering". To take challenges laid before you and "beat" them, rather than the focus being on the story.
I think they do because the *expected scope* of that flexibility *in this particular format of RPG* is too much to manage, and the idea of RPGs rides so much on Absolute Freedom (tm) that if the solution is to either forcibly railroad them or even gently ask the players 'hey can you not do that...'

I'll be one of the many lovely judges for this competition, so if you've ever wanted to make Pathfinder 2e homebrew, now's your chance to be a big shot!

I've always wished the TTRPG space had a bigger critical community, the same way movies/video games do. It's likely a byproduct of the adolescence of the medium combined with its relative lack of popularity, but when I see awards I want them to be more than just popularity markers.
Judges' Choices!! the awards that, imo, actually matter! I very strongly think we should give more weight to judges' opinions and rulings beyond the audience appeal, and that correspondingly we should put more care and effort into selecting judges! like maybe letting active professionals judge!

I feel like I did really well! I'll find out the results one way or the other next Wednesday. Fingers crossed!
Have an interview at my LGS in the morning— the one I've been applying to for years since moving to the city. Wish me luck everyone! I feel like I have a pretty great portfolio, but these things are unpredictable.

I should really get around to that Seven Part Pact preview-review before the full game comes out, huh?

It's been a tough one for me because I want to do the game justice but I'm just so bad with maintaining long projects.
it's crazy to have been working on this game for 4 years and to finally have mockups of it
