Beautiful day for kayaking! Lots of birds… this heron let me hang out near him for awhile so I got a bunch of pictures. Plus I loved the way this water lily looked so I took a bunch of pictures of it.

This white-crowned sparrow has been hanging around for a few days. His (her?) song is beautiful and he’s not very skittish or shy. This morning while I was having breakfast on the deck (my new favorite thing to do), he posed in the sun for awhile and let me do a whole photo shoot with him 🙂

Great birding today at Skokie Lagoons. Two new lifers (the brown thrasher (very cool bird) and the eastern kingbird), lots of great swallows, oriole, yellow warbler, this spotted sandpiper who was bobbing his butt up and down 😆 (I guess that’s just what they do but it was so funny). (Post 1 of 2)

Happy Mothers Day! I had a yummy breakfast in bed from a local delicious brunch place (my request). And lots of lovely gifts! Unfortunately, I have work today but it’s only 4 hours. And then we took a lovely nature walk!

I have a love-hate relationship with the squirrels in my yard because they’re always stealing food from the birds and they drive Penny crazy, but I know it’s not their fault. This guy looked so cute posed on this fence post and as I was taking his picture, he looked at me and posed?? 😆

Highlights from some recent walks
While Emmett was at guitar (in Evanston) I got to take a walk along Lake Michigan. The sun was setting and even though I was looking east, the sky was still showing off. Such beautiful colors. (The first one I posted was the last one I took but it’s my favorite)

absolutely perfect weather* this morning and not working until later means time on the deck. But This squirrel is SO MAD Penny and I are on the deck and interfering with his birdseed stealing time 😆😆😆😆 He keeps looking at us and chattering

I started walking toward my back door to do some garden stuff and looked up and was like “OH! Look at the Rose-Breasted Grosbeak!” He stayed there for awhile so I got lots of good pictures. So beautiful. One of my faves.

Didn’t let a little rain stop me from taking a nice walk today! Got in some good pictures and there were a ton of birds!
