Today, the Heritage Foundation, the org behind Project2025, took credit for driving Lonnie Bunch out the Smithsonian Institution.

Bunch was the first African American and first historian to serve as head of the Smithsonian.

But sure, tell me again how it’s not about racism.

US national debt just hit $40 trillion.

Why?

HINT: It's NOT because the government is trying to provide its citizens healthcare or childcare.

I’ve been doing the ugly cry all afternoon, Dolly has always been a huge part of my life and I’m going to miss her so damn much.
Here are some beautiful old photos of her in Nashville in 1978. www.nationalgeographic.com/photography/...

Dolly Parton’s larger-than-life career began with humble roots in Tennessee. Photographer Jodi Cobb was there to capture her early stardom.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

Most of my friends are at San Diego Comic Con this week and I’m sad because I couldn’t go again this year. We have had a rough couple of years in my house, so going to #SDCC was financially out of reach. It is so expensive to go to #SDCC now, I don’t know if I’ll ever get to go back. 😢

Hey @tessmachling.bsky.social she had evidence of gold working!!!
Worth noting that the polished flint axes with the Upton Lovell burial, shown in the headline photo and captioned as "Artefacts dating to about 1,800 BC..." would probably have been at least 500 years old at that time, so a deeper past was also being referenced in her metalworking practice.

The heritage sector generates £15 billion for the economy. If we cut archaeology as a subject, we lose the engine that helps generate it.

We also lose our knowledge of past societies. We lose any grasp of who we are, who we’ve been, and who we might yet be.
“In a letter to the Office for Students, which distributes the funding, Bridget Phillipson, the education secretary, said funding should no longer be given to support nursing, computing, history, creative arts, performing arts, archaeology, and geography courses.”
