Once again I am asking why this happens to indie games and not big blockbusters where you can fuck the bear or go to strip clubs. And once again I know the answer
We are aware that Steam has classified Nighthawks as an adult game and has excluded it from searches (and delisted it entirely in certain countries). We are working on it. Valve is under the impression that this game is way sexier than it actually is.

Going back in time to tell Gygax that lawful, neutral, and chaotic are this comic, "this if fine," and "let people enjoy things." He strikes me for 3 damage with a glaive-guisarme.
It was exactly ten years ago today, on my 33rd birthday, that I posted this comic online.

I want to say "and Latin America" but it's possible the US would view that as impinging on its interests
Nice, but it is a pity that Canada is not trying to move closer to Mexico in the same way it is trying to do with the European Union. The treaty is already there, what is missing is creative ways of sidelining the US.

We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art, and very often in our art, the art of words.

I remember in my last role as Lab & Research Grants manager warning my group bosses that they shouldn’t rely on Microsoft cloud to store experimental data & instead use the University Owner servers because you can’t trust the company that owns the cloud. This was 2 years ago. Did they listen? Nope.
Between the PRs of (largely likely stolen) math breakthroughs, claims of "rogue AI" (actually cybercrimes by companies, but whatevs), and doomerist "whistleblowers", it feels like we've been subjected to a gish gallop of hype recently.

so to the extent that “the little guy in a garage with big dreams and a revolutionary device” was ever real (honestly probs more a trope) it became much less of a thing since having a legal department became such an integral part of making “invention” profitable. Not sure if culture fed or followed.

The UK gets compared to the con't & the US mostly, but Japan seems like a secret 3rd option that's also useful at times. Much of ↑'s true here too.

There are great artists in our future, and great art to look forward to. But I think you'll have to look outside the anglosphere to find it. And that's a fucking tragedy for thousands upon thousand of American artists who damn well deserve better, it is infuriating, but art itself will survive.

I mean this to be supportive and comforting, but I think what we're seeing is not so much the death of art as the death of American cultural hegemony. Of course the arts are always struggling to survive under capitalism, but very few other countries are experiencing this level of naked hostility.
