There seems to be quite a lot more activity of chemistry people on LinkedIn compared to a while ago, but all the AI generic posts of business people are a bit annoying, so I don't check LinkedIn regularly. Similar posts get more attention/likes on LinkedIn compared to Bluesky, though.

Jan explored the coordination chemistry of notoriously labile lanthanoid phosphine complexes with ancillary COT or Cp ligands and found a way to get rid of THF, enabling the synthesis and characterisation of the first Gd complexes with neutral PR3 ligands. 🧪

Tetramethylsilane worked for me, but needs to be kept cold (bp 26 °C).

Using rel. ECPs or ZORA gave very similar results, but for meaningful comparison the methods should be kept consistent. Thank you to Jan-Erik for doing such a great job during his research internship and beyond and Paul for the smooth collaboration! Open access funding through project #DEAL.

Including relativistic effects is of course crucial to properly describe the U-P bonding, as we found by comparing non-relativistic with relativistic ECPs. This also gave some nice insights into the influence of relativistic effects on the energy and availability of orbitals for bonding.
