Happy birthday to one of my favourite authors, Agatha Christie.
15 Sep, 1890–12 Jan, 1976,
What's your favourite Agatha Christie novel? 📚
And are you more of a Poirot or a Miss Marple fan?

Thank you to everyone who joined my talk with The Charles Dickens Museum on Dickens' Women. I hope you enjoyed it.
I am so sorry the powerpoint did not play properly.
But the museum has the audio recording and I have sent them the visual aids, so these can also be sent to you.
Thank you again.

Summer wanes, its warmth departs,
Golden days leave tender hearts.
Sunset skies and long, soft eves,
Now are but a memory's leaves.
Yet as autumn's breath draws near,
I'll miss summer's bright, warm cheer.
But as the seasons gently turn,
Next year, for you, I'll yearn.

I’m giving a talk this week with the Charles Dickens Museum on Dickens' Women.
“Mad, Bad, or Too Good to Be True?” explores Victorian women and the complex portrayal of female characters in Dickens' works.
You can listen in live or to the recording later.

In the gentle shade of birch so tall,
A woman stands, immersed in the call
With every page, her spirit soars,
A peaceful joy the heart adores.
In nature’s embrace, she's free and bright,
Her soul alight with the morning light.

Forget Darcy or Thornton. This guy is the handsomest hunk that ever was.
He’s loyal, he’s loving, and he’s a great kisser (usually in the middle of the night when you least expect it).

On this day, 172 years ago, on the 2nd of September 1854, a classic was born, as the first chapter of Elizabeth Gaskell's novel, North and South, was published.

In All About Eve (1950), Bette Davis’s iconic line "Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy night!" was completely unscripted! The line became legendary, and Davis’s sharp wit and unfiltered energy made her one of the best actresses of her time.

Honouring the late Tim Curry in one of my favourite roles of his, as Cardinal Richelieu in The Three Musketeers, 1993.

Farewell to the wonderful Tim Curry, who has died aged 80. From The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Clue to It, The Three Muskateers and countless stage roles, he was funny, fearless, wonderfully eccentric and completely unforgettable. There really was nobody else quite like him.

Green fields stretch wide, ducks glide on by,
Cottages nest 'neath the open sky.
The breeze, it flits through the trees,
As time slows down with every breeze.
England's heart beats soft and slow,
Where simple joys, are what we long to know.
