NO WHAT THE FUCK

ANYONE BUT DOLLY

It’s our year to do thanksgiving with my family which usually means my dad but I’d say this technically counts. My husband needs to experience the full Bills holiday tailgate glory.

(This was Christmas Eve 20-something)

Shawn Hatosy is about to have me fully go back and watch multiseason shows I have very little interest in just to see him on my screen more. Like, sir, I don't have TIME for this.

When people say that the economy being good feels completely disconnected from their lives, this is what they mean. Okay, shoes are AI now, and they get $50 million for that. Reading that sentence doesn't feel like getting bonked on the head with a bowling pin at all.

"Tobacco ruled the world until it didn't" is such a good reminder and rallying cry
Industrialized agriculture only dates back to the mid-20th century. Plastics were not widespread until later than that. They've changed the world so quickly and thoroughly that it seems like there's no reversing it but I take the opposite view. Tobacco ruled the world until it didn't.

Hot tip: there is likely no good time to buy your first home and coordinate repairs and a move, but boy howdy is the middle of the school year (as a teacher) a crushingly bad time to do so

Seems like maybe AI use in education is a particularly bad idea.

But who's to say, really. The educators and librarians or the tech bros and enthusiasts?

Who needs expert knowledge or values anyway?
🚨New preprint and our results are rather concerning..

We find the "boiling frog" equivalent of AI use. Using large-scale RCTs, we provide *casual* evidence that AI assistance reduces persistence and hurts independent performance.

And these effects emerge after just 10–15 minutes of AI use!

Donald Trump declaring himself the true Pope is gonna be so funny
NEW: A stunning new report claims that the Pentagon summoned Pope Leo XIV’s top American diplomat and threatened him after the U.S.-born pontiff gave his January state-of-the-world address.

Leo used the address to denounce a world ruled by “a diplomacy based on force” and “zeal for war.”
The Pentagon Threatened Pope Leo XIV’s Ambassador With the Avignon Papacy
The Free Press has documented a closed-door Pentagon meeting in which a senior Trump official lectured Pope Leo XIV’s ambassador on American military supremacy.

"Moon's haunted"
When they go round the moon, the Artemis astronauts will be completely out of contact for 40 minutes. What's the single funniest (yet feasible) thing they could do when they get back in touch?
