The fundamental flaw of the US Constitution, which is otherwise an inspiring document, is that its vaunted checks and balances ultimately depend on the courage and morality of elected and appointed officials to act. It all falls apart when cowardice, apathy, corruption, greed, and stupidity prevail.

Said I before, say it again. The biggest winner of almost every Trump policy is always China. They must love him over there.
tl,dr; Scientists no longer allowed to use federal funding to publish, attend meetings, or talk to the public. They cannot collaborate internationally. Grants can be cancelled for any reason, at any time, political appointees have a final say over what gets funded, and who gets funded.

In my opinion, the dismantling of USAID by the current US administration is a large part of why the current Ebola outbreak was not detected earlier. There are likely people dead and dying right now who would otherwise not have been. Politics is the greatest biological risk.
