If true, that this many people actually use ChatGPT or Gemini over Claude is wild to me.

I play this from my HomePod every Reds game when Emilio comes out to close if I’m not at the game. The hype helps. 🤘

I didn't follow the Reds when Suarez had his original run with them, so I have none of the nostalgia. All I know is that he has been super lackluster this season.

Just saw that Hunter Greene is back on the IL. I like the guy, but he's only pitched 27 innings this season because he's constantly hurt and his ERA is junk. Having him through 2028 is not good (though not as bad if there's no season next year due to the CBA.)

How is there a PitchCom issue immediately before the first pitch of a game? Do they not test it during the warmup? It just happened for the Reds to kick it off against the Athletics.

Not bad.

This is why we're going to miss baseball next season. The league absolutely needs a salary cap and floor.

I feel like Terry Francona is completely checked out because he's been atrocious. Last week he left Singer out to die instead of lifting him 3 batters sooner. Tonight the rain is bad enough that Abbott is sliding all over the mound, and he just sits his ass in the dugout. Insane.

The only thing better than a Reds win is a Reds win followed by an awesome Marshmello concert.

I had a legitimate shot for one less stroke but screwed up just a tiny bit toward the end.

I hadn't used Chrome on any platform in quite a few years, but I used it yesterday when I first set up the Pixel 9a... Holy cow is it bad, even worse than when I originally gave up on it. Suffice to say that Firefox was an immediate install and default browser swap.

If the Reds don't pull their own Konnor Griffin with Sal Stewart and sign him to a big multi-year contract, it's a massive failing from the front office.

The Pixel 9a offering both facial recognition and a fingerprint reader is surprisingly handy. It's surprising to me how often I seem to be trying to unlock my phone while looking at something else. (And no, I don't mean when I'm driving.)

Regional sports networks are so funny to me. The positivity they manifest for losing seasons is... Interesting.

I just realized I should update my bio here (and some other places) because for the past 6 months I've been doing virtually no Java and much more backend JavaScript.

After toying with it for an afternoon, I think the base Android experience is a lot better than it was 6 years ago when I last used it. The lack of a cohesive messaging experience is a bit rough. And Android's real issue has always been external connections for me. Android Auto will be interesting.

I really dislike how, by default, both iOS and Android don't show the actual battery percentage in the status bar. Mercifully, both of them still offer the option to toggle this on.

Currently messing around with Android for the first time since 2020. After adding my SO to my cellular plan, it included a 3rd line that's been languishing for half a year. I finally grabbed a used Pixel 9a just to throw a SIM in and play around.

The digital zoom on my phone sucks, but Mr Redlegs was rocking out in the Tarps Off section.

Not a bad 3-2-1 Tuesday at all. I almost enjoy Cleveland losing as much as I enjoy the Reds winning. There were a handful of massive defensive plays that secured the victory for Cincinnati, including the very last out of the game at the warning track.

Next up, for the app which is generating the Cosmos DB entries, I want to add some AI-specific instrumentation via LangChain. I think it'll give us some nice insight beyond the local logging I've built. The Python decorators look pretty straightforward.

Instrument your code directly to control which functions are traced and how they appear in LangSmith.

My struggles were mostly all around instrumentation, but I got an Azure Function working that'll send a notice to a Teams channel when certain entries are added to Cosmos DB. It also has a GitHub Action to automatically update the Function when changes are merged into the main branch.
July 28, 2026 at 8:28 PM
I'm a bit new working with Azure Functions and Node, so my initial Azure Function was 611 MB. When that seemed insane, I did some digging, made a .funcignore file with the following, and now it's 34 MB:

node_modules/azure-functions-core-tools
node_modules/azurite

That's significantly better.
July 28, 2026 at 6:39 PM
While my Azure function uploads, I check the score of the first game of a split double header for the Reds after the weather forced them to postpone last night. It's awful in the first inning. I'm going to the second game tonight, so hopefully things get off to a better start. 😬
