It’s important to understand that when 1.2 million Americans are dying from a disease, any government action is excessive and tyrannical, but if a dozen trans women want to play soccer no government action can go far enough

Our new analysis found that the Supreme Court is deciding more cases through largely unsigned orders (the “shadow docket”) than through its standard procedure.

Many have allowed the Trump administration to enact some of its most controversial policies.

That these people have coordinated responses to events in the can, ready to fire when it happens, doesn’t mean that the events themselves are planned. They just know what plays with the mouthbreathers, and things like last night’s mini-drama are very valuable to them.

This is the critical point regarding Eastman. Trump's allies tried to replicate the alternate electors process of the 1876 presidential election. But they couldn't get states to certify them. Eastman advised abandoning the law and resorting to pure power. That's why he should be disbarred.
So Eastman took the scheme and said, forget actually certifying our "alternate" electors. They'll just claim to be electors, and then VP Pence can say there are irregularities and refuse to certify the election for Biden.

From then on, the whole plot was premised on a lie.

one of my strongest beliefs is that we're in our situation right now bc some of the most prominent talking heads (e.g. joe rogan, andrew schulz) are learning about politics in their 40s and 50s, instead of their teens and early 20s, and we have to go along for the ride as they learn basic things

I know these “interviews” with Justice Barrett are carefully scripted. But if she’s going to keeping urging Americans to “read the opinions,” and not just commentary, it sure would be nice if someone would ask her what we should do when—as is so often the case these days—there’s no opinion to read…

This @washingtonpost.com editorial doesn’t make it past the second paragraph without a glaring (and telling) factual error.

President Washington didn’t create the War Department in 1789; *Congress* did:

I am no law professor, but what I always remember is the vast majority of lawyers never deal with the hottest-button issues. They handle traffic offenses and divorces and slip-and-falls and trusts-and-estates and medical malpractice, all areas where the Rule of Law is alive and well. /1
As I prepare to welcome new law students, I am fighting the urge to go deep-cynic about law and courts. I think the most powerful act of resistance I can offer is to teach future lawyers how to think clearly, how to care about facts, and how to understand fundamental legal values.
