Having said all that, I think I know what the problem might be. Unless it's a really really good one, the colours are quite low down in the sky often. So maybe you have houses in the way? We have allotments behind our house so can see a lot of sky.

Obviously I only take pictures of the good ones! So these are from a whole range of years.

Those were both about 7.15 or 7.30ish but back in early December maybe. Not sure what time the sun is up at the moment. It doesn't last long.

I honestly don't think it is Londoners saying it's unsafe. Isn't it mainly people who don't live here, some of whom have never even visited? I live in London and have done all my life and don't know anyone who feels unsafe.
