There's no military plan for Iran, let alone a strategically coherent one.
It completely relies on 1) Trump's "feelings" and 2) GI Joe Hegseth's desire for wanton destruction.

Even if the US successfully cuts of Iran's economical reliance on oil exports, oil prices would likely remain high. Not only because of the threat of the remnants of the Iranian regime but more importantly due to resistance groups in the region likely attacking allied oil facilities, ie in Saudi A.

The biggest risk to US troops in this war is not Iran, not the Houthis: it's Israel.
Israel has its own objectives and has already struck targets the US avoided.
When US boots eventually hit the ground, Israel is the biggest liability, not an asset nor an ally.

After the Venezuela operation, Team Trump thought they could deal a definitive blow to China by also cutting off its access to Iranian oil.
But China is far less reliable on oil imports. Its economy works fine without it. And Trump's fuck-up re Iran means oil still flows to China.

Never has there been so much strategic incoherence in the White House than now. This has created a competence gap which China could exploit. Arab allies, feeling betrayed by the US, could drop the petrodollar, thus undermining US economical dominance, while Trump is busy blaming Biden

Imagine if China is able to offer Arab nations in the region more security, perhaps even accomplish a cease fire. They would have a great opportunity to get rid of the petrodollar in favour of their own currency. That would mean the end of the US empire, their ultimate goal.
