At this MAHA conference, they said the polio vaccine was a massive fraud. I'm old enough to remember people who suffered from polio. The relief my mother had that a vaccine would protect us. This twisting of facts...of history...it's like the 20th century never happened.
My grandfather, who is 102 and a medical doctor, has told me about the times before polio was cured. Most years, upon returning to school after summer’s break, there would be some children would didn’t make it back to school because of polio.

@praddenkeefe.bsky.social I read the New Yorker article last year but it didn’t land as hard as the book. Why? You painted such a detailed portrait of everyone-I felt an emotional connection to all involved. Like “Say Nothing,” there’s more to the story than a death. Time, place, history #bookclub

Lindsay Graham was, I think, one of the most contemptible figures in US politics, a titan of respectable bipartisan foreign policy for years who displayed no principles, no insight, and no beliefs beyond a gleeful and vicarious love of violence. An indictment of every institution he served in. RIP.
