prob would have lost only 9 of 12. Not having Soto was of greater import.

So basically, pete would help, but not enough to matter. Still miss wildcard, just like last year.
September 17, 2026 at 2:49 PM
I dont know the answer, but i fell fairly confident in 3/4/5 you will have 2 players in soto/pete that will require DH. I bet mets didnt want that configuration. Mets wanted pete at high avg value for 3y, pete wanted 5y deal. O’s were only team to even get in on pete.
September 17, 2026 at 2:29 PM
I mean yes, but they knew this. The issue is year 3/4/5. Could turn pout to be a mistake, but we wont know for few years. Nobody was worried about years 1/2.
September 16, 2026 at 10:14 PM
Meaningless i suppose since they are wildcard mix. But technical point taken.

Players are not wrong on wanting mets fans to cheer for good performances, like tong. Pete is no longer a met, like others before him. He should be giving a hearty welcome back, applause, then be rooted against.

Two last place teams?

Speaking as someone who requires his son to help him self-police, self-regulate his online porn habits.

He is great, but should do what he wants.

Its not my $$, so I was fine with paying Pete. I also got the argument of years 3/4/5. The lockout, y2 of deal, would have been even worse for Mets. First 2y of deal would have been the best years, to lose one--not ideal. Then be stuck with 3/4/5. could be fine, but seems like high risk.

Im not defending Polanco or Baty. Stearns was 100% wrong thinking they could play 1B. I think at the end of last year he saw Nimmo, Pete, and Soto on team and said all 3 need to be DHs by 2028. He can only keep 1. He chose Soto. Plus the overall mix was not really all that good, record wise.
September 15, 2026 at 8:32 PM
Or maybe he is as good as he was at scoops, getting older and slower. It happens. Your point about soto/pete splitting dh. That would have worked this year, maybe next. Certainly not after.
September 15, 2026 at 4:03 PM
Bad data? C’mon man, nobody thinks he is a good 1b. He has limited range, cant throw straight. He is solid at digging balls out of dirt, will give him that.
September 15, 2026 at 2:24 PM
But we didnt lose any either. Where we did at times with Pete. Regardless, soto and pete are both DHs right now, or should be. They cant be in same team, if serious.
September 15, 2026 at 2:07 PM
Yes, both proven defenders.
September 15, 2026 at 2:06 PM
I know you didn’t day that, but they both need to be full-time DHs now. They both cant be on same team.
September 15, 2026 at 2:03 PM
So you wanted Pete and Soto, both DHs, on the field in 2028 and beyond? Both should be DHs now.
September 15, 2026 at 1:55 PM
We did have one, he made no difference though. Puts up 35/90 (which is really good), hurts on D enough to matter. Is a future DH. Maybe next year? We already have a future DH is Soto. They both cant be on team in 2028.
September 15, 2026 at 1:49 PM
would we have more wins? Sure. Enough to be in contention, def not.
September 15, 2026 at 2:07 AM
So strange. We would be no better with him. Last year proved that.
September 14, 2026 at 11:28 PM
If its Pete, it looks nothing like him. Not any resemblance on any level.
September 14, 2026 at 11:02 PM
who is that pic of?
September 14, 2026 at 9:21 PM
Clout? Hilarious. Yes, posting about history really increases that clout. Dummy.
September 12, 2026 at 8:59 PM
never again. straight up garbage now.
September 10, 2026 at 9:08 PM
More likely Grindr meetups.
