A character from Old School Runescape depicted in the style of Mr. Boss from the animated show 'Smiling Friends' is focusing on an NPC, depicted in the style of the Building Inspector from the same show, as he describes an artifact handed to him by the player. Specifically, he is reading a line written on the object. This line is a reference to the obscure entity from Runescape lore 'Xau-Tak', a malevolent eldritch being that is a threat even to the creators of the universe that, up until this point, has rarely been touched upon in game's story over the 25 years of updates and support. The interaction taking place is a museum from Old School Runescape, which contrasts the 2D Microsoft Paint style the characters are drawn in to mimic the original style of Smiling Friends by being a direct screenshot from the game. The image is a continuation of the first in the slide included in this post, establishing that it is a recreation of the scene from season 3, episode 1 of Smiling Friends that has been adapted into the meme, 'We're So Fucked'. As the last image as established, the player character from Old School Runescape is depicted in the style of Mr. Boss from Smiling Friends. Off to the side, the NPC Jolly Jim is depicted as the Smiling Friends character Alan, peeking inside the building where the interaction of the last slide has taken place. The player character, depicted as Mr. Boss, feints a smile but is visibly distressed as he tries to casually excuse himself for a moment to do something out of both sight and earshot of the Building Inspector. While all characters have been depicted in a 2D art style in Microsoft Paint, mimicking the show Smiling Friends, the characters are superimposed over a direct screenshot of gameplay of Old School Runescape which serves as the setting. Concluding the previous two slides, the image continues to portray a player character from Old School Runescape in the style of Mr. Boss from the animated series, Smiling Friends. Specifically, the images recreate a meme using a template that originates from season 3, episode 1 of Smiling Friends that can be referred to as 'We Are So Fucked'. As the prior slides, this image depicts the character in a 2D art style made in Microsoft Paint to mimic the style of the show Smiling Friends while the background and setting is a direct screenshot from the game Old School Runescape. This image specifically is right outside of the museum from the first two slides, facing away from the building (west) and facing another building. It is, however, heavily obscured by the head of the player character. The player character is looking directly at the viewer, assumed to be the point of view from Jolly Jim, who was depicted as Alan from Smiling Friends in the last slide, and speaking with a grave expression and highly-detailed face. The player player character says "Jolly Jim, we are so FUCKED", which is typed in yellow font with the word 'FUCKED' capitalized and in a larger, more dramatic font to emphasize just how dire the situation is. The meme concludes, intending to imply that the player finding the relic, which is linked to the eldritch entity Xau-Tak, will bring danger upon both Jolly Jim and himself as Xau-Tak is both malicious and possessing power of unfathomable scale to the creators of gods in the world of Runescape, let alone mere mortals such as Jolly Jim and the player character.
