Starting my official #boardgames thread here! First a picture of our cabinet showing our favourites so far!
Wishlist is still full and would lead to personal bankruptcy hence thread is gonna be updated slowly!
Trails SC and Fire Emblem are on the way because I am a responsible adult. I will definitely go with Sky SC first - I thought about playing both simultaneously but I dont think my brain is made for this.

Good thing is, after DW 3, FFR and Zelda I have all the rest of 2026 to finish everything!

Surely this will change a little bit, but damn if it is not the prettiest thing I have seen in a while.

Yeah that is sick. Team Ninja is on such a run, wow. While I do prefer Nioh, Wo Long is still an amazing game with unique mechanics and systems and it also gets those bonus points for being set in the Three Kingdoms lore/age.

Also March, befor FF VII, thank you!

Wrote down my thoughts about Onimusha on backlogged. The combat and bosses truly carry this game + a great cast of characters - but it is also another great example of why linearity could be a better choice sometimes.

Maradum's review of Onimusha: Way of the Sword | Backloggd
The Onimusha series was always a hallmark for great action combat combined with horror/gore elements in a Samurai world. Onimusha 3 with - still one of the best - cameos of Jean Reno was one of my fav...

Finished Onimusha!

Best to describe as an amazing 15 hour game stretched unnecessarily to a 25 hour game.

BUT the combat is on par or even better than Sekiro, boss fights are insane, that final boss was PURE CINEMA!

Side content unfortunately sucked, but no big deal.

8/10 for me!

Surely this also means there will be another Partner Direct soonish right? Nothing from Duskbloods and it should release this year.

Also, clearly, Horizon 2 as well!

Okay, New Kirby you got me. Thats good and my kid is definitely happy!

Switch 2 Directs suffer so much from the "this game is also on Switch now" parts. Just too much.

Its great if you only have a Switch, for someone expecting something new its kinda hard to watch.

Ocarina of Time was my first not jump'n'run video game, my first "story" video game and what can I say:

I absolutely cried like a little baby watching the presentation and the trailer.

I am beyond happy and hyped.

This so Nintendo. 40 Years Zelda, we make a movie, its out in April.

No, we have no trailer.

Lol.

You know what game mechanic really needs to die?

Loot radar.

Dont make me press a button every 5 seconds to see the loot. Either just mega highlight it or make it super obvious what you can loot.

This is by far my most hated mechanic.

Please everyone buy it so Capcom makes even more!

The combat is some of the best, tightest sword combat out there, insane animation work. Boss fights are so damn good, level design is nice, enemy design is awesome and even as a non horror fan, there is a lot of very cool spooky stuff in here!

The Onimusha difficulty debate is so boring.

First of all: its just the demo/tutorial part that is extremely easy.

Second: "Soulslike" games have totally destroyed the view on good action games. If people dont get killed by random bullshit every 5 seconds the game is not hard enough.

New Onimusha is super fun. Great action combat, amazing art style, pretty dark while also being funny - overall extremely happy that Capcom revived it!

Just wondering where Jean Reno is?

Okay so the Zelda Direct will definitely be about the movie and OoT Remake BUT 30 mins? Maybe new game as well already? Would be sick!

Also Horizon 2 in Nintendo Direct, surely. Falcom use that Sky First Chapter money!

As a DB main this looks super sick BUT my biggest fear is still the same:

PLEASE give those monsters some tools. Wilds was waaaayyyyyy to easy (its an issue with base games since World) so please give those monsters new sick moves as well so they can fuck us up.

Rare World of Warcraft tweet:

So sad that Echo lost again. This was such a close race, Echo was so much better, but in the end they got hit by bugs and overengeneering their strat. Super sad.

Race to World First is still always a good time!

Oh wow, from the Steam Page for Final Fantasy VII Revelation, Story DLC is already planned!

I am 100% sure this unfortunately means we will see Gackt as well. Oh no.
September 3, 2026 at 2:14 PM
April 8 for FF VII 3 so the only thing they need to do now is to NOT release the Wilds DLC anywhere near it, please.
September 3, 2026 at 1:57 PM
Funny that they have an extra Asia State of Play afterwards when the main State of Play is fully carried by Asians devs already?
September 3, 2026 at 1:36 PM
FF Resonance looks so good and I am so hyped for it but those CGI scenes that are clearly leftovers from the mobile part of the game are horrible. I wish that would not be in there.
September 3, 2026 at 1:22 PM
Seeing Crimson Desert DLC it looks pretty neat, but I also remember that I dropped it after 35h because I could not care less about anything in that game.

The characters, world and story are so bland and boring and I just could not stick through that. It is still a great sandbox though.

Yesterday we play Champions of Midgard! Really fun game! Worker placement, resource management, a bit of dice rolling to fight - a really good mix!

Feels pretty arcady and less strategy heavy than Uwe Rosenbergs games for example but we had a good time with it! #boardgames

Today we played some Hobbit: There and Back Again and it is such a wonderful time.

Great roll and write adventure game, every chapter has different mechanics, good mix between strategy and just chill. Last round was a 110 to 111 to 112!

Really good for casual players too! #boardgames

Finished Quartet and it was absolutely wonderful. Loved everything about it.

Combat is basic but with enough mechanics to be engaging, story is well done, characters are interesting and have nice stories and all that in under 30h playtime.

Absolute peak RPG!
