When I still had PSVT, caffeine caused problems but alcohol didn't. Had that ablated, now with just PVCs, it's the opposite. I can drink coffee/tea within reason, but I have to severely limit the alcohol. I much prefer it that way!

My grandfather owned a first edition set of the Mars books. It's been 25-30 years since I last saw them, and I can't remember the covers anymore, I don't think they even had dust jackets.

Something I didn't know until a couple months ago was that this wasn't unique to Auschwitz - I visited Terezin/Theresienstadt and discovered they also had "Arbeit Macht Frei" painted over a stone entryway.

I've only been to three WorldCons and not since 2006 (August is a bad month for taking off at work), but I have had my share of entertaining interactions. I don't think I've ever met a SFF writer or an industry bigwig who wasn't willing to schmooze for a minute.

Preferably with less dancing. Did not enjoy that part. The rest was a hell of a timesucker though.

I was a free-roaming latchkey kid in the 80s that wanted to watch Thundercats and Fraggle Rock. Alpha Centauri came along in 1999 when I could stay up all night playing it and nobody could tell me not to!

Cool Ranch always reminds me of going to the beach at Dam Neck in Virginia Beach in the late 80s/90s, because that's what we packed in the cooler, and whenever I eat them now, I instinctively expect a hint of sand and Coppertone in the flavor crust.
