reposting this old post of Isaac's because I just finished The Bell and, just like when I read The Sea, The Sea last year, I'm so over-the-moon about how great it was that I'm doing embarrassing stuff like name-searching Iris Murdoch on here to see who else feels the same way
Anyway, my other point here is that if you like the white lotus, you might like Iris Murdoch. Her straight up funniest book is her first one (Under the Net), her best ones are the Black Prince and The Sea The Sea (but maybe don’t start with those), good entry point = The Bell.
