And once you get your grants going, it's really easy to have one resubmitted, one new and one MPI/cycle. Even for the little kids.

I'd believe it, except that MPI is included on the list. I'm still a little adolescent scientist on the career scale but MPI comes up for me not infrequently and this is going to squash collaborations like bugs.

But you know that's not why they are doing this, right? It has nothing to do with AI. They could easily say no more than 10 applications/cycle, or 5/cycle, or 10/year. This isn't about AI, it's about reducing the pathways to funding.

Don't be afraid to set boundaries & expectations. I was like you, worried about repeating my own bad experiences on someone, so I went too far the other way and left folks twisting in the wind a bit. It'll be great because you care. You don't have to entertain people, they need to want to be there.
