Count Binface was a surprise guest at Byline Times' event exploring parallels in US and UK politics with @lincolnproject.us and @quietriotpod.bsky.social in Leicester Square.

His message to Clacton and beyond? Vote! And value a (flawed) democracy where he can take on – and laugh at – Nigel Farage.

Why not move Parliament into Buckingham Palace so the Palace of Westminster can be renovated? PM only needs to pop across the road to see the King; MPs still have a grand place in the heart of London. (JRM will have no reasons to object) Adds a Republican touch, too- Royals out, the people in.

The Cotton Genesis (Cotton MS Otho B VI, 5th century) was one of the tragic victims of the Ashburnham House fire in 1731.

Today, we’re delighted to release new multispectral imaging of the manuscript, allowing us to read its texts for the first time in hundreds of years.

If you’d gone easy on him it would have been the only flaw in this flawless episode of an excellent podcast. 👍🏻
Let’s just say we don’t go easy on him….

‘The snout of a poem: the visceral worlds of Małgorzata Lebda’ Olga Topol’s beautiful blog post on the occasion of the European Writers Festival 3, held last weekend, 16-17 May. Małgorzata Lebda was there, and made a big impression on me, as does this blog. www.bl.uk/stories/blog...

The third panel features 3 authors who write about secrets and lies; either crime novels or novels about authoritarian governments or a culture based on fake info.
I like Krisztina Tóth best and am looking forward to reading her book Eye of the Monkey.

Signed and sent. Who on earth would want one company to run data at the police, FCA, and the NHS and the military? It comes close to handing over the keys to the country to them. Let’s get them out.
🚨 Last week MPs from across the political spectrum demanded Palantir be kicked out of the NHS.

This only happened because thousands of us have pressured MPs & 65,000+ have written to their NHS trust demanding they ditch Palantir.

Great news: in England it is #NationalTeaDay Meaning it's time for Pieter van Roestraten, a Dutch painter working in England. And, by a wonderful coincidence, he was born on this day in 1630.
