"The early days of Andy Burnham’s government have made Starmer’s look positively energetic: a PM who usually loves nothing more than being on camera has studiously avoided saying a word as he loses control of law and order in Britain, and his home secretary seems determined to appease the thugs."
If Shabana Mahmood is tough, why is she so slow to crack down on Danny Tommo and the far right?
Weeks of what looks like blatant lawbreaking have finally resulted in an arrest. But the home secretary seems happy to look elsewhere

‘What is emerging is not simply a relationship between [Reform and Farage] and a wealthy Gulf state, but a channel through which an authoritarian government can cultivate political influence here, and abroad.’

Reform and the UAE – a threat to British politics
Nigel Farage's embrace of the UAE is part of a wider effort by the Gulf petrostate to build alliances with the far right across the West, says Alex Carlen.

Well it appears that the UK political and media class have decided that tutting loudly is the most appropriate response to a large gang of masked racists.

Utterly pathetic.
Europe has a far right problem and the US government plus various tech bros are encouraging it. The centre right insofar as it remains is stuck in paralysis as to what to do, and much of the media likewise, including supposedly "progressive" titles (yes you, staggers).

The thing about “Bluesky is a bubble” takes is that they start with the false assumption that social media is our job or some sort of responsibility.

This isn’t my job. It’s probably not yours, either.

It’s not our responsibility to ruin our days on a Nazi hellsite or to talk to dummies here.

He'd hate this elitist bullshit dressed up as desperate concern for mis-sold students.
Without putting too much stock in the actual numbers. Think university education is roughly:
* the top 10% gaining really valuable human capital
* the next 30% mainly doing signalling except a small proportion of them are wrongly classified and should have been in the top 10% who massively gain.
