The supposed ceasefire that I doubt ever existed "fell apart," and the Strait of Hormuz is still shut down. Israel has killed over 200 civilians in Lebanon in one day. Over a dozen children were among those killed.

The glaring exception to the rosy news is groceries. Prices were up 0.7 percent in December, the biggest one-month increase since 2022. Over the past year, grocery prices are up 2.4 percent, a meaningful pickup since early 2024.
