"The next Mass Effect will have to find its own identity while carrying the weight of the trilogy’s musical legacy. For Hulick, that means pushing the boundaries of the series’ sound rather than simply repeating what came before" - @arielaguilar.bsky.social

When asked about it, Hulick answered it would be "incredible feeling" to work for Next Mass Effect, "thrilled" if he worked on the TV show.

He had interacted with co-showrunner @danielcaseytypes.bsky.social a few times on social media.

It's also why Sam's "An End Once and For All" shares co-credit with @iamclintmansell.bsky.social, as it references Clint's "Leaving Earth".

Sam shared that he and Jack Wall have worked separately. Instead, they worked directly with BioWare for feedback and direction. Co-credited music is due to themes or melodies being shared between composers at BioWare's discretion.

No shade to John Paesano, but Sam Hulick has made Mass Effect music truly iconic.

Mark thinks we'll know what option EA picks within the next 6 months or so.
August 11, 2026 at 3:53 PM
Option 8: Split EA into multiple divisions, off-load debt into less profitable division and make it public or sell it off.

Option 9: Lay-offs, shut down studios to cut costs, consolidate.

Option 10: Despite what they said to investors, keep things as they are and gradually service debt. (unlikely)
August 11, 2026 at 3:53 PM
Option 6: Triple down on microtransactions for short-term revenue. / Option 7: Increase production across the board to generate more revenue in the mid-term to beat the interest rate.
August 11, 2026 at 3:53 PM
Option 2: Sell (some) IPs or licenses. Not a lot of revenue. / Option 3: Sell dead IPs.

Option 4: Release BioWare. Don't save in short-term, save in long-term. Almost entirely about PR.

Option 5: Give it as a gift to a Saudi SIL. 😭

Summary, but give Mark your views anyway:

Option 1: EA sells off studious like BioWare (possibly with IP and folding reassigned veterans back into the studio) to pay down debt and lower expenses. BUT: Few potential buyers in present market.

There's a worry of studio closures, if some aren't sold off. Also, for IPs, EA will look to sell some. Just not sure which ones.

I've spoken to dozens of EA employees across various studios, and all of them believe large-scale layoffs will come in the first 12 months. Some have also told me that communication about the future has been mixed, but that's based on personal perspective, obviously.
