ANATOLA SOUNGOUROFF (1911–1982) was a gay artist celebrated for his paintings of beautiful young men mainly in the 1940s & 50s. Sailors, fishermen, gypsies and legionnaires became recurring figures in his work, reflecting his fascination with masculine beauty and the men who inspired him.
