You can become disabled or homeless in an instant.

It just takes one accident or illness to change your life forever.

It’s not a moral failing.

You can’t just “try harder”.

People need support, compassion and to have their basic needs met.

That’s how you ensure survival.

People should know that NYPL alone has 100 vacancies and that this doesn't include the 160 vacancies at BPL & QPL. Library workers also need higher pay. Meanwhile the libraries ARE NOT RECEIVING ENOUGH FUNDING. We need @mayor.nyc.gov and the @council.nyc.gov to fund libraries at 0.5% of budget now.

I’m primary caretaker for a baby now, spending nearly every hour of almost every day handling it all completely on my own.

I’d like to be able to afford 1-2 days a week to knock out big chores (like laundry) & to be on the ground again. A nanny costs $20-$30/hr. I make $350/week lol

City budget negotiations are moving towards an adopted FY27 budget, and your City Council Members need to hear from you - weigh in and tell them to fund our public libraries at 0.5% of the city expense budget.

Easy steps with scripts and facts on our action page here:

Library Budget Phone Bank 2026
We’re emailing and calling city councilmembers on the Budget Negotiating Team (BNT) directly to ask them to dedicate 0.5% of the overall city budget to our libraries. Are you in any of these BNT…

Apart from the moral repugnance, this is so revealing of how ignorant conservatives are about poverty. Poor people have to think about money ALL THE TIME. They worry constantly about what everything costs, how to substitute one purchase for another, what bill can be put off until payday, etc.
Husted: "People living in poverty are just not very, um, experienced at navigating the real world, right? I remember talking to one young lady who said, 'Well, I don't really know how money works at a grocery store,' bc she grew up & has lived all of her adult life using SNAP cards to buy groceries"

The Apothecary Diaries is just so fantastic and beautiful. And I hear the manga's art style is even more breathtaking than the show's art style, OMG.

I'm also just coming off the heels of A Sign of Affection which was another 10/10 anime 🩷

Feelin’ real tired of how Americans flock to European cities each summer, return to gush about how enjoyable those cities are, but then vote against public transportation, bike-inclusive roads, housing, and building for people instead of for cars and corporations. Because racism and classism.

Please believe me when I tell you:

Double the fuck down on your spiritual practice now.

You are going to need it.

And no, that doesn't have to be a prayer-god thing.

The thing that sustains and nourishes you.

That makes you more alive to yourself, the world, others.

More present.
