Yeah, that aspect is a bit uncomfortable in hindsight. I quite like the dark conceptual joke of the animal-loving hitman who keeps accidentally eliminating his target’s dogs. Which may say something about me.

It was funny but mainly thanks to Kevin Cline, Jamie Lee Curtis and Michael Palin rather than Cleese.

Yeah that one was a damp squib given that none of the home nations qualified. Vague memories of Italia ‘90 (semi-final and final), but the one that stands out most in my childhood/teen years is France ‘98. Now *that* was a tournament for the ages.

Datsh the shicagoo wey! Also he *did* try an Irish accent early in his career in “Darby O’Gill and the Little People”. It was terrible. Later he said that he didn’t do accents because he said it shouldn’t be necessary to in order to inhabit a character.
