I want to re-emphasize one part of this Xbox story: Half of the 3,200 cuts are happening today and half are happening in the next 12 months. In other words, even people who survived today's layoffs will have to spend the coming year wondering if they're going to be next.

Here's why you should care about the trans athletes case today:
Because if discrimination on the basis of gender identity doesn't violate equal protection, trans people can be segregated, outed, denied medical care, denied housing, denied jobs, and excluded by the government.

One day we need to have a real conversation about business guys’ actual connection to reality! It’s very strange to read this. It’s totally unmoored, supported by mythology. The AI bubble is the great dunce mask off moment. An epoch of chaos will follow!

I like that the distribution of 5 opening stores throughout burroughs seems to be an approach to fairness. Fairness, like privacy (and so many species) seems to be on verge of extinction. Hopefully, this effort will amount to more than one final death rattle & catch on elsewhere.

the Democrats retaking the House and Senate, on its own, will not destroy the Republican project. The only way to do that is a broad, years-long cross-ideological commitment to break American conservatism's power base

This is dead on. If the Democrats retake the House and Senate--or even just the House--it could mark the beginning of the end of a 50-year Republican project. If they can't? The GOP will spend the next 2 years destroying all remaining guardrails. Most important midterms of our lives, no question.
The Roberts Court, the Trump White House, and the national GOP are acting like this is their one big shot. Either they secure the lasting end of US Constitutional democracy, or they’re in very serious trouble from the backlash. And they’ve already gone so far that there’s no other possibility.
