The discourse around The Invite is annoying and stupid. A lot of "This isn't how a movie is made" or "This doesn't follow the rules of screenwriting." There are no rules. A good story is a good story.

Y'all act like you're being attacked and forced to watch a movie with a lead of color rather than confront the fact, for one moment, that for *years* non white audiences have been asked to see ourselves in and empathize with white leads
White people swear they don't see race until they see a trailer for a movie with a predominantly black or latin cast and proceed to not show up for the movie because they don't think it's for them.

Anti-communism is the number one mission for the CIA, organized to react to any nation that could even slightly be perceived as a threat to capitalism. JFK presented the idea of dismantling the CIA...and we see what happened to him. MLK, Hampton, X, murdered AFTER speaking more on socialist ideas

Bluesky is virtual gentrification. Some of us appear here and there, but white liberals dominate the space, with many participating in performative all ship, and eventually the few of us who are here will move on because this space doesn't feel authentic

Meanwhile, most of us who grew up speaking English first expect assistance when traveling in our language, and many demand others speak English. A colonizer's mindset still settles in our subconscious.
I have an issue with people who only speak English. Nothing against the individual, but the mindset developed from the privilege of never having felt pressure to learn another language to acquire economic success in the world, while others have an obligation to, and many end up speaking 3+ languages

My hate against the establishment has solidified working in corporate, specifically in tech. I can never believe in Hollywood and the dream they sell artists, many of whom are so desperate and willing to work for free to see their name in the credits, and execs depend on this desperation to exploit
