this thread is long for a reason—it attempts to lay out a call to action to do something proactive at the state level to help protect healthcare for trans people.
this will be more important than ever as the federal government tightens its fist on trans care.
please read. ⬇️ help if you can. 💜

hi, folks!
is calling federal electeds to ask them not to pass shitty legislation not doing it for you? i get it.
how about helping to bring about positive change that would materially help thousands of trans people? and that's actually possible?
do you know about washington state's HB 1971?🧵

if your reps are GOP, please call or email about these bills. we all hate calls, but calls are better. this script is timed to 1 minute with a bailout built in. personalizing is good!

![My name is [your name] and I'm one of [representative's name]'s constituents. I'm calling to tell them to vote NO on three internet
censorship bills:
• the Kids Online Safety Act - KOSA
• the Interstate Obscenity Definition Act - IODA
• and the SCREEN Act
These bills claim they'll protect kids by making online platforms block content someone somewhere decides is harmful. But I don't trust any DC elites deciding for me and my family what's harmful and what's fair and free speech.
[bail out here at 0:30 if you want]
Just like I didn't vote for Elon Musk to make decisions about Social Security, I'd absolutely never vote for the next Democrat whatever to decide if my Facebook church page or the NRA website is too "harmful" for whatever oversensitive group and needs to get censored and cancelled and taken down. There's no reason at all to give that kind of power to anyone in government ever. We have a First Amendment for a reason.
Censorship harms everyone. Vote NO on all three of these bills.](https://cdn.bsky.app/img/feed_thumbnail/plain/did:plc:2lzahebnas6od6j6jfydwst7/bafkreiedumxmbbmgrqhlkfbylyeb54vfvbne7ua6czha7hewvsjbzz6msi)

NC Court of Appeals gives over 60,000 challenged voters 15 days to prove eligibility
The majority wrote that, even though they have the authority to completely throw out the contested ballots, they decided to instead mandate a cure period for most of the challenged voters.
