There’s such an easy answer to this “gotcha” question and it’s “Sports are inherently unsafe and unfair and it’s ridiculous to single out trans athletes when we allow 150 pound linebackers to go up against 260 pound linemen in freshman football on a daily basis. Let kids play with their friends.”

It’s obviously powerful and powerfully destructive technology with huge unintended consequences and we’re seeing them play out. The models are OBVIOUSLY getting much better. At a minimum you’re building something that will be the most potent cyber security threat that has ever existed.

This! It's not super intelligent or sentient. If it kills us, it will be because it was programmed to do so, however unintentionally the programming may be (i.e., build as many aluminum screws as possible, and the biggest aluminum deposit is deep underground in NYC, therefore nuke NYC by hacking...)
TBF it doesn’t have to be intelligent to be dangerous. We need tighter regulation of the whole industry and its infrastructure regardless of their philosophical claims.

It’s just more vaporware. Something impossible, heavily marketed to thwart some realistic improvement on the status quo that might cut into his profit margin. Same as hyperloop & boring company deployed against high speed rail and transit.
I got really mad about Elon Musk posting constantly about the idea of a universal income as a solution to AI taking people's jobs, so I blogged about it. What else was I to do.
