I asked my 8 year old what the world needs to learn.

He said - "That everyone matters"

To hell with LinkedIn so I'm back here. To start: News this week that I appreciated. Apple disruption - M5 chips democratizing access; a fruitfly's brain was graphed and now exists in a simulation; Claude Code is powerful and addictive, I built RAG-lite and skills for retrieval in a long sitting.

I'm shaking almost too hard to type. I entered SLC airport and heard screams and cries for help. I could see people gathered around, watching. I sped over to discover this woman face down on the floor, four grown men pushing her down, while she cried "HELP ME" and pled for her child.

They gave up on pseudo-science, now it's anti-science. They no longer try to make it look like authentic science, instead the hook is, "this is not what the scientists and doctors tell you, and that's how you know you can trust it."

Depressingly, this view controls the whole federal government.
I’ve been combating medical misinformation for over two decades, and this feels not just quantitatively different, but qualitatively different.

Power is a race.
Wisdom is a garden.
The U.S. may be winning the race.
China may be tending the garden.
And the future might belong to those who can do both.

If AI mimics the human brain, what does that reveal about our own place in the intelligence order?

In a fractal universe, could our minds be just one link in a recursive chain, an iteration in an infinite, fractal system of intelligence within a larger framework??

The shift away from fact-checking timed w/a 1M inaugural fund contribution, suggests Meta is hedging politically.

It was never about curbing censorship. Fact checking adds context.

Meta is descending quickly into a subreality of bots and alternative facts.

I'm worried.

Just as to be reliant is to rely, or to be defiant is to defy, to be important is to import.

Your ambitions for recognition really are "rooted" in the desire to add value.

Big news - o1 has come out of preview w/new API capabilities.

Structured outputs, vision, and reasoning to control thinking time.

This is great for builders, opens up a lot.

It also bring marketers a step closer to more nuanced (& importantly, reliable) personalization use cases.
