Climate Change is worse than we think, long grey braid, she/her, tons of books, cat, native plants, art, trees, cooking and eating, full time caregiver. Old white lady in Massachusetts who wishes you well.
Now that is certifiably cool.

I love mine. And happy octopus day!

You can thank Israel's destruction of Gaza and the deaths of Palestinian children for the rise in antisemitism. Personally, I honor Jewish history and culture and deplore all that Jews have suffered at the hands of gentiles. But Israel has turned its back on that history and performed a genocide.

Satan cheering on the anti-christ.

Yeah, but if I had a choice between strapped to a gurney and my veins filled with fire or a bullet, I'd take the bullet.

You know, all this wealth concentration could be viewed as a sort of savings program for civilization. Thanks for the hoard, guys, we have health care and climate change to deal with now. Fork it over.

Caregiving is brutal. I'm 12 years in caring for my husband. And I'm lucky: he's not the same guy but still a decent guy. Caregiving for a parent who has always been abusive, especially if you're financially dependent on them, is a special hell. Check out the Caregiver Support subreddit sometime.

A freezing cell? In Miami?

But those same algae photosynthesize...seems like quite a balancing act.

It surprises me that a man of color in that situation wouldn't view it as a trap.

The emails that went out advertising her vulnerability make this especially horrifying.

Wow, learned a new word. Very cool, thanks.

We can hope.

I agree we have neither foresight nor cultural introspection, nor wisdom, for that matter. What we do have is an ability to wake up suddenly and act precipitously. I have thought all along that a regime that truly put Earth First would be the most repressive in history. We may get to find out.

I'm still stuck on Peter Thiel being given VIP access.

Why not just use fentanyl? Or heroin? Are they looking for a "nice" way to execute people? Or just determined that there be a punitive aspect...not just death, but suffering is required.

But it doesn't have to. Pigs in cafo's have very different impacts than pigs on a farm. (If it sounds like I'm grasping desperately at my disappearing cheese, I am. In reality, meat is oil on the hoof and we need to disengage rapidly from both.)

I'm a part of that! Put solar panels on my house, financed by a long term lease, which was scary, but the price is stable for the whole term so I went with it. Been working a couple of weeks and my new electric bill is already about half what it was.

Brilliant.

Especially beef. If we limited meat production to small scale, local operations we would pay a lot more for it, which would reduce consumption, it would contribute to regional food security, and done properly it helps with soil regeneration.

I would rather learn how to ditch Microsoft completely. My next laptop will be a Linux box.

The problem is that Walmart and Amazon between them have eliminated the vast majority of "shop local" alternatives. I remember local department stores. My closest shopping center had an Ames and a JC Penney. Now it has a Job Lot and a dollar store. Corporate capture completed.
