Car-dependent suburban sprawl is the most publicly expensive approach to population growth in human history. #UrbanTruth
They want us to think that Suburban Sprawl is cheap. But the truth is, the costs are FAR too high. #UrbanTruth

Hail Mary movie - 2 billion people will die because the sun is being chewed up by astrophage. In reality 2 billion people will actually die on planet earth because we couldn't be bothered to get our real life fictions under control and no single white man is coming to save the universe.

Mosaddegh was arrested, tried for treason, and spent the rest of his life under house arrest. He died in 1967 never freed. I feel so ashamed over how the US and the UK treated Iran in the 1950s and even more ashamed how the US and Israel are treating Iran now. How do we be humans anymore?

In 1953 the CIA and British intelligence staged a coup. They hired street gangs to create the appearance of pro-Shah riots. They removed Mosaddegh from power and reinstalled Mohammad Reza Shah; a monarch who would keep Iranian oil accessible to Western companies and Western strategic interests.

Mosaddegh led a parliamentary movement to nationalize the oil; to make Iranian oil belong to Iranians. The same thing Norway did with its North Sea oil. The same thing Saudi Arabia eventually did with Aramco. The basic principle that the resources under your soil belong to your people.

Iran at that time had its oil controlled almost entirely by the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company (now BP). Britain took the overwhelming share of the profits. Iran received a small royalty. Iranian workers lived in colonial labour camps. Iranians were not permitted into management positions.

Mohammad Mosaddegh was Iran's democratically elected Prime Minister from 1951 to 1953. He was a nationalist, a lawyer, a constitutionalist: by all accounts a genuine democrat in a region that had very few of them. He was Time Magazine's Person of the Year in 1951.

In the Fire Horse year, nothing that deserves to fall stays standing and nothing that deserves to rise stays hidden. We know what is falling, but what deserves to rise needs to take action now.

Every major land-based spiritual tradition, underneath the political capture, says this: The Jewish concept of tikkun olam - repair of the world. The Islamic concept of khalifa - stewardship, not dominion. The land is not yours. You are its caretaker. You will be judged by what you leave.

Under the Geneva Conventions and customary international humanitarian law, Pete Hegseth ordering that "no quarter" be given (meaning no surrender accepted, no prisoners taken) is a war crime explicitly prohibited since at least the Hague Conventions of 1899. I'm so ashamed.

I will be ready with free cold compost fertilized mulch for all my neighbours this garden season. I have lots of spent bedding from my rabbits and my sheep to share around my neighbourhood.

My next round of squash seeds for my local seed bank. I have already donated 20 packages last week. These should be another 20 packages (2-3 year supply of seeds in each package so people can share with neighbours). The only thing I can think to do in insane times. How about you?

An actual lavender egg (bottom left) from my Lavender Maran chicken! I don't often get this colour - this one was unique.

The USS Tripoli is nearly the size of an aircraft carrier. It carries 1,700 Marines, F-35s, Ospreys. In open ocean against a peer navy it is formidable. In the confined, shallow, mine-threatened, Iranian-coastline-adjacent waters of the northern Persian Gulf it is a different proposition entirely.
March 14, 2026 at 2:06 PM
The IRGC navy exists specifically to threaten large ships in confined Gulf waters. This is not a secondary capability, it is their primary strategic purpose. And that clown Hegseth and Trump think they are getting through? I'm worried and devastated the world didn't get a vote on this.

There is no category of person in Iran right now who is not suffering. The protesters who wanted change. The ordinary families who just wanted cooking oil to be affordable. The schoolgirls in Minab. The Afghan refugees with nowhere left to flee to.
March 12, 2026 at 2:25 AM
The Iranian hospitals being bombed were already overwhelmed from treating protesters shot by their own government in January 2026. The people now being bombed by America are the same people who were being killed by their own government six weeks ago for demanding freedom.
March 12, 2026 at 2:23 AM
As of today more than 884,000 Iranian people have been forced to flee their homes in just over a week. Among the most vulnerable are 1.65 million refugees already living in Iran — 750,000 of them Afghans — who have almost nowhere to go.
March 12, 2026 at 2:19 AM
Before the war the Iranian people were already in profound crisis. The protests that erupted at the end of 2025 were driven by worsening economic conditions — by January the cost of eggs had risen 19% and cooking oil 50% compared to the previous year.

I have decided to boycott daylight savings time. For the next 8 months I am my own country and will be one hour behind everyone else. I work for myself, I will book appointments accordingly. Thank you Malcolm X for the inspiration to take control of my own time.
