👋 Hello, Bluesky!

We’re #METASTRA, an EU-funded research project working to improve fracture risk prediction in patients with vertebral metastases using advanced computational models.

We’ll be using this space to share updates, insights, and highlights from the project, so stay tuned! 🙌
METASTRA at VPH 2026 📣

Luca Cristofolini presented our in silico framework for predicting fracture of metastatic vertebrae. Enrico Dall'Ara, Damien Lacroix and Jaime Muñoz Allué presented related work.

Four days, a lot of ideas to take back to the consortium. 👏

Most spine labs saw off the posterior elements before testing, because a microCT chamber cannot fit an intact segment. The vertebral body carries the load anyway, we assume.

In the lumbar spine that assumption costs 43% of the load.

Three weeks to VPH 2026 (Milan, 1 to 4 Sept).

Luca Cristofolini and Damien Lacroix of METASTRA co-chair the decision support systems track.

The question it asks: how do you make a computational model a clinician can actually rely on?

Today is International Clinical Trials Day. 🔬

Every treatment that helps cancer patients exists because someone ran a rigorous study to find out if it worked.

At METASTRA, we are part of that continuum.

Grateful for every clinician, researcher, and patient making better outcomes possible. 👏
