The mesoamerican cultures of Mexico have made at least one major contribution to the US Space Program.

Tortillas.

The crumbless, unleavened traditional bread of the Aztecs and others is perfect for zero gravity.

Our website has a range of information and maps, from conquest history and ancient springs to archeological mysteries.

I do have ads, not too aggressive, I hope. Thank you for your support of the podcast. Have a couple more episodes in development.

In the map I traced historian Hugh Thomas's proposed Cortes route (dark purple), one from a blogger (pink), and my proposed route (light purple). To me, the most direct line makes the most sense, but who am I. My route also makes possible the Piedra Grande theory.

There is a rock, called the Piedra Grande, that is said to be a remnant of the wall, but no conclusive proof has been provided. There are several proposed paths for Cortes but none of them have revealed the remains of the Tlaxcala Wall.

The Wall hasn't been located. And today, as I searched for another topic I came upon an illustration of the wall in The Five Letters of Hernan Cortes. I've never seen this image, so it came as quite a surprise given my odd fixation with this wall.

I was there a month ago, and the little Neolithic village was fun, that big building wasn't complete yet but looked pretty impressive. Even my kids said "Yeah, I see how this could work."

I adjusted the Tlatelolco sacred precinct from archeological to his reconstructed map, and adjusted down my #Tlatelolco Market.

Tzompantli, or skull racks, were common in mesoamerica. Recent archeology has uncovered the main skull rack in Tenochtitlan - a massive structure that spanned the foot of the Templo Mayor.

The Spanish documented several tzompantli in other places, including the small town of Ixtacamaxtitlán.

In 1520, Cempoala was the scene of Spanish on Spanish violence when Cortes returned to Cempoala from Tenochtitlan to confront Panfilo Narvaez, who was sent to reign Cortes in.
March 2, 2026 at 5:44 PM
This stone ring in Cempoala reportedly served as the sleeping area for the Spaniards when they stayed here in 1519.

Other narratives indicate they were hosted in the palaces nearby. It's likely the hundreds of men slept in both places.

The amanteca featherworkers of the Valley of Mexico created vast amounts of art, all of which is gone beyond seven identified pre-contact pieces.

Mass of St Gregory is an amazing example of #Aztec art applied to Christian themes in a post-contact world.

"Along with this, it pleased our God, when the Christians were greatly wearied by the war, to send smallpox among them, and among the Indians there arose a great pestilence, since there were so many people inside, especially women, because they no longer had anything to eat." Francisco de Aguilar

Tlatoani Moctezuma Xocoyotzin meditates in his black meditation chamber (Casa Denegrada) deep within his palace.

The Casa Denegrada was rediscovered in 2008 during excavations. This is some AI slop I played with. Could not get the crown right, could not get the bird to face Moctezuma.

"Tell the Captain
that I have done my duty;
I have defended my city, my kingdom,
just as he would have defended his
had I attempted to take it from him.
But I have failed.
Now that I am his captive,
let him take this dagger
and kill me with it." - Cuauhtemoc (Duran)

Execution of Cuauhtémoc from The Conquest of Mexico by William H. Prescott.

Cuauhtémoc was taken on an expedition by Cortes to Honduras. On this journey Cortes murdered him along with Tetlepanquetzal of Tlacopan, and Tlacatlec, of Tlatelolco.

Tlatoani Cuauhtémoc represented as the figurehead of the Mexican sailing ship Cuauhtémoc (BE 01). This ship was tragically involved in a fatal collision with the Brooklyn Bridge in 2025. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
