Very pleased to share that "Double Arch" has been selected by jurist Lana Privitera, AWS, NWS, for the inaugural 2026 North American Watercolor International Exhibition. This juried exhibition received more than 700 entries from watercolor artists globally.

Had a fun time at the Iowa Artists Region 7 show yesterday. An Honorable Mention for Philadelphia City Hall and a first Place for Field Edge. Both are oil paintings. Fields Edge will go on to the State Show in May.

Finished! I’ve been working on this large oil painting commission for a while, and completed it today. “Galena River Valley Farm”. 4’ high x 9’ wide triptych #oilpainting on stretched canvas. Will see if it needs any fine tuning over the next few days.

Wrapped up my watercolor class with Bluff Strokes Art Center last Tuesday. This was my third and final demo. We had a lot of fun!

These are the first two paintings done as part of my watercolor class with Bluff Strokes Art Center. One class remaining, and I hope we can complete one more. A focus on connecting shapes and values.

Completed the first painting of a multi-painting commission. “Cold Winter Sunset” is a 36 x 48 inch #oilpainting. A reworking of a smaller developed painting from a few years ago. Hope to get a better image when the paint has dried a bit.

And now for something completely different. Trying out a technique William G. Hook demonstrated at NWS last week. “Huntington Beach Power” 9x12 mixed media. Watercolor over acrylic on gessoed canvas. Lots of fun to remove paint to create the image.

My Nocturne from last evening “Out for Dinner” 11x14 #oilpainting of the Copper Kettle in Dubuque. I met several people while painting, including the two people sitting in the window, and the owner. The owner happens to own another painting I did taken from the other direction!

In May, we travelled to Moab, UT to attend the wedding of our niece. We spent a day in Arches National Park, which was wonderful. This painting was done as a gift for the bride and groom. Double Arch 11x15 #watercolor.
