Thank you for all your reminders and work on this - I've submitted my comment to OMB, and used the work from SUFS to rally as many family and friends as I could to also comment. I know I could not do what you do, so I am grateful to have someone able to figure this out to follow on this!

I aim for 12 per year - so 1 per month. That tends to exceed the 3 per senior mark. I don't usually restrict reviews by journal, but there is one journal that asks me for a lot of reviews and desk rejects everything I send them, so I've mostly stopped reviewing for them.

I use brush pens for calligraphy- maybe try some calligraphy to get used to the brush pens?

If you try it, let us know how it works? I've been debating that since the printer fabric isn't always nice.

Is there a particular fabric you want to use? If not, I have had some luck printing outlines onto ink jet printable fabric... there is also print stitch dissolve paper I've been eyeing, but can't say if that works or not.

I wish more did. We celebrate Happy Vaccine Day. Every time she gets a vaccine, I tell her all about the diseases prevented. And then we get a new book, because knowledge is why we can prevent diseases. Thank you for your public health posts.

My kid is one who will need 3 shots. I was both grateful for the option at 6 months and FURIOUS with the fools who made it necessary to stick my child with a needle an extra time.

Oops - sorry! My PhD is in molecular epidemiology, I work in a nutrition department where I teach an undergraduate biochem course, and my research is focused on the infant gut microbiome and antimicrobial resistance. So I have a little flexibility in what I would feel comfortable covering

Have you tried asking the corresponding author if the person who did the analysis the conclusions you are worried about would speak with you? Frame it as you want to learn for the future. I'd done the analysis that was over interpreted,had commented on my concerns 2x on drafts, then escalated.

Yes, I was worried about offending my colleagues, but instead everyone was incredibly professional and took my worries seriously

I asked to be removed from the author list. To my co-authors credit, this prompted an all author meeting and a serious discussion of my concerns. Which ended with a massive paper rewrite and a paper I was comfortable with

When I had my first ND, I literally could not make sense of the issues for 2 of 3 reviewers. God bless the third who gave me detailed comments, they're why I could resubmit. The summary on the discussion gave me a much better sense of what the sticking points were, and which I could address.

But it will matter to grad students, post-docs, and assistant professors. That's where more detailed feedback is critical to try and understand what went right or wrong...
