Last night I completed the initial art chores on a brand new 8-page short comic I made to give out at NYCC. It’s a conversation on a rooftop between two people, I drew it in 3 days, and it was a blast to draw. Will be sharing soon. #comics #comicsky

I’ve been trying Threads out for the last couple months. It was captivating at first because you can just stumble upon any random person’s post and interact with them and their opinion. But at this point I think it’s unhealthy. The people on there go there to fight and it’s addicting to observe.

Only a month later I decided to spruce my art of Simon up a bit by "inking"them.
In reality i just printed them out and then went overboard with an HB and H2 pencils ot add shading
Here is hoping you like them

AI shills talk about it the same way rapists talk about rape:

"It's inevitable."
"Just let it happen."
"Stop fighting back."
"We don't care if you don't want it."
"We'll take it against your will."
"Why are you fighting back?"
"How dare you fight back?"

Once you see that, you can't unsee it.

I always thought Age of Apocalypse was perfectly suited for an old school RPG. You got a world map, each continent has a boss, multiple factions of good guys. Everything is dystopian and cyberpunk.

The fact that Joe Mad’s Battle Chasers made for such a gorgeous RPG is further proof for me.
Marvel are really sleeping on video games.

We could have;
-Max Payne but Punisher
-Arkham asylum but Daredevil
-Tell tale murder mystery but Jessica jones
-Turn based JRPG but Doctor Strange

Congratulations to the nominees, to be sure!

My position was never, “the people making it happen suck and I’m the best.”

It’s more like, “jeez, what was I thinking?” Like, “why did I embarrass myself like that?”

I’m not making stuff at that level. I should understand that by now.
Looks like Eisner Award nominations have come out. I submitted my work, but it’s no surprise the people who were nominated are also the people with an audience and industry buzz, two things beyond my reach.

Each day I feel less and less connected to this art form. It’s a party I’m not invited to.

Playing the Battle Chasers game and I’m so stoked for Joe Madureira while playing it. He became an all time favorite comic artist for me because he was able to pull in so much from video game art, and the fact that his own comic is now adapted as an old school RPG is like seeing its final form.

My friend gave me a copy of The Last Ronin: Design Archive and it’s a great example of what I’m always going on about.

Kevin Eastman’s art is so quirky and interesting, I can stare at it for days.

Then you get to the art for the final product and it’s correct, competent, but zero personality.

Me and my brother Erik came up with this character name yesterday while driving around. Thought I’d visualize him

So good. Just pure imagination. Pure cartooning. No photo reference. No gritty realism. Just cool, wacky designs. Back when Marvel was still basically making sci-fi/monster books.

And I love how Ditko drew hands to be so expressive, like alien creatures in their own right.

I know they’re just reprints, I know I have probably owned a million other reprints of these in different forms, but man, Ditko’s Spider-Man comics just mesmerize me. Ever since I was a little kid. I love his line work, I love his visual shorthand, I love his offbeat characters.

Disney might still get my money. I’m learning that the quote that’s been circulating from their CEO about the majority of Avengers: Doomsday’s VFX being AI is from a Twitter parody account. People are sharing it like it’s real. My bad.
I gotta say, I don’t care how many comic-accurate costumes we’re getting, if Avengers: Doomsday is Disney’s attempt at proving that a movie made of AI art can still make a $1B, they’re not getting my money.

I got the comics at home and the movies have never beaten the comics.

The first one I drew at Heathrow, the second one, “It’s almost time to go back, isn’t it?” I drew on my last night in Nice. I’ve learned Simon moves with me through the world. Even if I don’t find a publisher or sell a million comics, he is my companion and my gift to the world. #comics #comicsky
