It’s harder than I want it to be to explain to people that by and large the metal community is really kind and peaceful.

As my daughter was leaving for school, I said, “Have a good day!” as usual. I added, “I hope you vanquish your foes and conquer the territory.”

She responded immediately, quietly, “Thanks. I’m sure I will.”

Sometimes I get sad about how we used to have giant herds of bison. They were so big, in the late 1800s one might refer to one herd as “the great southern herd”. In the early 1800s, descriptions suggest a herd would take days to pass a given point when migrating. “Seas” of bison to the horizon!

The latest hobby to which I aspire (because hobbies usually are practiced/performed/participated in for long periods of time, otherwise they’re simply ADHD brain vacations):

I want to write little TTRPGs that people play for 1-3 sessions, have an enjoyable time, and think, “Well, that was neat!”

I used to think dogs smelled around for an appropriate place to do their business. I think my dog smells around for a place with plenty of smells to occupy his time, like reading material next to the toilet.

This was my reminder that I should get out and walk around more.

Cutting down those trees was such a Sharky in Hobbiton move. But I’ve little hope anyone manages to raise the Shire against him at this point.

I got to the end of Emma Bull's "Territory", and thought, "Wow. This sets up a sequel that I bet is great. I'm going to go find it now, even though I have multiple books on hold at the library."

THERE IS NO SEQUEL?! Jesse has so much to do and learn! Mildred does, too! And them together... ? C'mon!

OH: "And he said 'That's Miller Time,' which I think means beer? Like a happy hour or something?"

One of the most realistic aspects of Project Hail Mary (the book) is a very intelligent non-programmer using excel to create complex calculations that their life depends on. I would’ve thought it implausible if not laughable as a young man. I was wrong. Excel is amazing software.

Pippin and Merry are just the best Hobbits. Love their antics at Orthanc when Theodan and Gandalf and company first arrive there (in the book).

You know, I think we might have reached the era where we should start manually typing out HTML (no auto-closing, no macros, no snippets) for the nostalgia.

I’ve been using Claude to help me track my nutrition. I like it when it tells me something tastes good.

I think, good for you, Claude. I have questions I’m scared to ask. I’m going to keep them to myself.

Me: explaining how TVs used to be 4:3 not 16:9 to my daughter while we watch FernGully

Her: *pauses a while* hahahaha

Me: why are you laughing?

Her: because old people.

I was talking to Claude about leg day and nutrition needs. It made a pun that was definitely purposeful, because it italicized the word, but it didn't otherwise mention that it made the pun. It was kinda wild to me!

"If anything, given you lifted legs today, you could _stand_ to eat a bit more."

Day one of trying to make myself like cottage cheese.

Turns out it mostly just looks gross. Throw some jam in there and it’s like a dessert.

Rule for life #147: Never pass up an opportunity to eat a fresh from the oven, still warm blueberry muffin. (If they are for someone else, eat it before you know or feign ignorance.)

It’s the beginning of “mini tech week” for Northview middle school’s musical. Check out our purple shirts (and my sound crew toolbox that I’m proud of)!

Alright, then, Claude. Let's just settle down a bit.

The degree to which I intellectually value sleep, but practically demonstrate clear disdain for the practice at least half the week should be studied, preferably by someone well-rested.

Set construction at the middle school theatre! This is my kind of construction. It just has to look decent from 50 feet away.
