A pastor for Michael Whatley, the North Carolina GOP Senate nominee, opened with a prayer asking God to bestow "integrity and honesty." It was delivered by Pastor Daimon King, a registered sex offender twice imprisoned for convictions involving children.

One thing that makes me profoundly sad when I think about 9/11:

We largely saw the best of America for a while after the towers fell. The “rally around the flag” effect was real.

Dolly broke me in early to her raucous self deprecating sense of humor
when we began steel magnolias rehearsals
i asked her - how long does it take to do a hair do like yours?
Dolly - no idea, i’m never there when they do it!
i started taking Dolly-isms notes on the back of my script after that

This is truly heartbreaking. Dolly Parton was an extraordinary person and an irreplaceable champion of the working class. We are a better country because of her.

One way you know Dolly Parton lived life the right way: I don’t think anyone’s going to get fired for accurately quoting Dolly Parton today.

We’re going to hear about how everyone loved Dolly, and that feels true. But it’s good to remember, and to her credit, that she was attacked for her AIDS activism, her vaccine advocacy, her LGBTQ+ support and even, more recently, for her reading initiatives. She ALWAYS stood firm when it mattered.

Dolly Parton spent so much of her time and money helping others. Teaching kids to read, funding cancer research, vaccines, disaster relief, LGBTQ+ charities and causes. A truly singular person. The world is truly a little less bright without her.

The Supreme Court just taught every future president a terrifying lesson:

BREAK THE RULES.
BUILD FAST.
MAKE IT IRREVERSIBLE.
THEN RUN TO SCOTUS.

Two lower courts said Trump couldn’t unilaterally remake the White House without Congress.

You know, it's ridiculous to build data centers and then have the power company sending out emails like, "the grid is in peril! Unplug your TV, toaster, and laptop today for three hours to save energy!"

You know what else saves energy?! Knocking down data centers and not building more!

Food companies wanted deregulation. Now there are dozens of recalls across the country.

Mining companies wanted deregulation. Now the black lung rate is at a 45-year high.

Financial companies wanted deregulation. Now financial losses to fraud are the highest on record.

Noticing a pattern?

Parts of Indiana have been without power for 9–10 days due to storms.

Tens of thousands are currently in the dark (peak was over 300,000).

Puerto Rico has been rationing water for 13+ days due to severe drought.

Trump has not said a word about either crisis.

Not a tweet. A “Truth.” Nothing
