SUBMITTED TO US: Bloomington and 35th was held for 7 hours, withstanding two sweeps. Neighbors and friends re-erected the blockade within minutes after both sweeps - before police had even retreated - thanks to the support of neighbors who dropped off more supplies and hot drinks. .

UPDATE: Rep. Winter apologized for his use of the term "Jap". The derogatory term perpetuates the anti-Japanese sentiment that led to the WWII mass incarceration. Places like Heart Mountain, JANM, and GFBNEC help teach about the racist history of language.

Greetings from a company whose job it is to book writers for events. This shit is DEFINITELY trickling down.
I was supposed to give a keynote speech at a Maine library conference in 2026 but because the administration has cut so much of their funding, they’ve now cut my appearance. It didn’t occur to me this stuff would trickle down, but clearly it does. This was a significant engagement for me to lose.

This was just posted by @tbretc.bsky.social on another platform. The Chicago Sun-Times obviously gets ChatGPT to write a ‘summer reads’ feature almost entirely made up of real authors but completely fake books. What are we coming to?
