Central to the push to reopen the rape case was Cornell’s independent student newspaper, which published an editorial shortly after Jane Doe’s September lawsuit — “Cornell Won’t, We Will.” The piece named the 7 men accused, and went on to condemn the university for its treatment of the case.
Cornell University Journalists Kept Rape Case in Spotlight
“We have the right to demand safety from our university administrators,” said one student journalist.

Trying to figure out whether it was more impressive that Dolly gave away so much money, or that she was a working musician who figured out how not to get swindled out of all the money she earned in the first place

I'm so sad about Dolly Parton. I have to say, that it's beautiful to read the tributes, very uniting. It would make her happy to know that a very sad occasion can still unite people. #hope

If a family signed up to be one of the recipients of Dolly Parton's imagination library program from birth that child would get 60 books by the time they turned five which is the end of the program. Imagine 60 books in a child's library before they even enter kindergarten.

Through the Imagination Library, Dolly Parton donated over 100M books.

She didn’t have kids, but she provided books to kids and that says so much about who she was. Barely touches on how admirably she used her platform.

Tremendous talent and an even better person. Fondly remembering her tonight.

Dolly’s Imagination Library has sent out over 300 million free books since its founding and still sends 3 million every month, as well as supplying classroom libraries nationwide. 14% of all US children under the age of 5 have received a free book through the program.

Just an absolute saint.

Jesus Christ every American media outlet I've seen is reporting on Trump renaming Lake Ontario to Lake America like it's something he can just do. None of them are commenting on how fucking absurd it is, how embarrassing and pathetic it is, how small and weak and never gonna happen it is.

This is particularly interesting in conjunction with the story that someone else shared on here about Dolly being asked if she felt jealous of Whitney's success with her song, and Dolly whipping out a copy of the first royalty check, which was for a MILLION DOLLARS, and saying, "Nope!"
Dolly Parton invested the royalties she earned for writing ‘I Will Always Love You’ in Nashville’s Black community www.washingtonpost.com/arts-enterta...

I hate girls who preach feminism and understand their own exploitation yet refuse to free themselves because they want validation as an object. And when they come across a woman who actually is struggling but isn’t a product of it all/ obsessive about the male gaze, it’s all “she’s crazy”
