hhhh really don't like the deployment of the word "ethical" here. Reading dark and fucked up fiction with bad and evil things in it isn't "unethical," nor are books which contain no such dark themes more "ethical" in nature. Raine was raised to understand the importance of the appearance one presents. She wears eye makeup after the fashion in Radz-at-Han when she was a young lady. Jandelaine came up with a custom version that can hold up to adventuring. It's like her war paint, in a way.

In all seriousness, we gotta love the things we enjoy louder than we hate stuff we dislike. Fandom should be fun, not a social obligation.

X’khal, meanwhile, has a very different POV. He was a child soldier, and personally experienced hardship and injury from the Garlean occupations of Bozja and Ala Mhigo. He doesn’t assign any particular inherent value to life; once someone commits to battle, they should be prepared to die.

I’m reminded of when I was still writing for Lovestruck, and one of my fellow writers was told to edit a reference to frankincense because readers might not know what it was.
I think I was told to revise a bit referring to a character as “Sister Schadenfreude” for similar reasons.

I’m reminded of when I was still writing for Lovestruck, and one of my fellow writers was told to edit a reference to frankincense because readers might not know what it was.

No, tagging NSFW is just early internet etiquette. This thing where anything NSFW is then treated as foul and immoral that must be hidden from ANYONE is just some fucking fascist bullshit though, yes. Platforms punishing users for tagging NSFW properly is actively harmful to everyone.
Though it would be apt to recall one of the earliest steps of Tumblr's adult content ban was to block all posts with the "nsfw" tag, which to this day remains invisible. In retrospect, adopting the employer's standard is submitting in advance to the techno-fascist purge of all adult erotic culture.
