youtu.be/HK2ftzlac34 if you have 15min and are still confused if Miragaia ever went away, our video-talk from PVC25 (www.palaeovc.org) explains it all.

TL;DR: the last authors to allege that M. longicollum could be the same as D. armatus omitted 17 of the previously found differences. So no.

The Miragaia exhibit in Museu Geológico de Lisboa is finally opening next May!!

As an aperitif until then, here's one of the posters I made to compare, in a single plate, just some of the many differences between M. longicollum and Dacentrurus armatus that makes them different species!

My first paper of the year, "Dacentrurine Stegosaurs in North America: New Occurrences from the Upper Jurassic of USA (Morrison Formation)": doi.org/10.3390/d180...

You can also find here the best published photos of the material of Miragaia (=”Alcovasaurus”) longispinus that survived to this day.

FYI for anyone still in doubt, Miragaia never went away because the last authors to allege it to be synonymous with D. armatus only discussed 10 out of the 27 differences found between M. longicollum MG 4863 and the holotype of D. armatus. Find out more in our @palaeovc.bsky.social video! #Miragaia

The Miragaia Project is on BlueSky too!
And to start off, here's something from almost a year ago, when we did a preview of the project in Aljustrel (Alentejo, PT), neeearly ready but with a few parts unfinished, so focused on the making-of.
You can expect the final exhibit in MG early next year 🙂
