@ezrakleinbot.bsky.social listening to is the world getting uglier. Lived in a nice old house. Ice on the inside of the windows every winter. Had to a job cleaning old Victorian things - impossible to clean. Built to show you could afford staff.

If walking costs you $1, we all pay $0.01. If biking costs you $1, we all pay $0.08. If bussing costs you $1, we all pay $1.50. If driving costs you $1, we all pay $9.20. Via study that still underestimates climate cost.

This isn’t about choice. It’s about who pays for your choice.

Whenever Labour is talking about tax, they're not talking about education, health or employment. If they are going to talk about tax, why aren't they pinning national's cuts to hospital queues, jobless youth, broken roads.
Okay, not roads.
Playing National's game by National's rules and loosing.

Has accident and spent few days in hospital in Aug. Clinical staff et al in ED and the wards excellent. Trying to get hold of some paper ACC forms that should have been mailed 6 weeks ago. Huge waste of med and other staff time. This is what penny pinching the back room support staff results in.

The response when progressive policies that help millions of people are proposed...

"How will you pay for it?"

The response when the richest 1% ask for tax cuts...

"How much do you need?"

It doesn't have to be this way.

What I've heard is that there are some people that say it is that way.

Donald Trump displays his considered evidence based decision-making.

Must be hard being a satirist these days.

Spent half an hour trying to figure out why the media center (Kodi) was muted. Son comes in, picks up the tv remote and unmutes the tv.

@suebra.bsky.social listening to you on the whip. At home I have a photo of Helen Clark and Verna something on stage at the national election hq congratulating the national candidate Clem Simich when he - with Labour's help - won the Tamaki by election. He just beat the Alliance candidate.

@bernardchickey.bsky.social re conferences. Conclusion: more research grants are needed. Chattering classes want to continue the conversation. Rome is burning - someone get me a fiddle. Urgently.

@bernardchickey.bsky.social Jim Anderton founded the Alliance? Well that's news to those of us who were there. To Mana Motuhake, the Greens, and the Democrats.

Btw - the innuendo and smears about opportunity are starting to show up in my inbox. Love to see main party internal polling.

@podsavetheuk.crooked.com Speaking as a boomer - or maybe boomer adjacent - the reason my friends and I don't get involved in left wing things anymore is the distain with which we are treated when we do. The automatic assuption seems to be that I must own ten houses and evict widows as a hobby.

Opportunity Party poll at 4.6%. Given the timid, lacklustre policy announcements from captains call Hipkins and the constant comments from greens about how they can't wait until I die, that's close enough to give for me to them a shot.

My son said he likes electronic music - so playing Straw People. Nearly 40 years since Broadcast released. Not really an electronic fan - more of a three chords should be enough for anyone kind of person. But Strawpeople ... blew me away back in the day. Where'd that forty years go?
