I hope you’ll take this time to reflect on how you can regain the trust of the listenership.

Surprisingly, no, you didn’t!

And for those disappointed to learn of Texas’s damages caps, this is a good reminder to look into what caps their own states might have in place to see if the same thing could happen to them someday. It’s never a bad time to call your state legislators.

Hey, I live in Atlanta, the unofficial capital of treating speed limits as suggestions! We just aren’t even at the point of considering whether speed cameras work elsewhere b/c they’re not even on offer unless we first convince PDs nationwide to give up the Flocks. (no city will pay for both.)

So there’s just a bit of talking past each other, is all, I think.

I think this is the disconnect. Here in US, cities are increasingly adopting Flocks, so “speed camera vs nothing” isn’t the relevant question here. We do have red light cameras, and maybe speed cameras could be fine! But convincing PDs to downgrade from Flock to speed camera is a different issue.

1 Tbsp garlic powder, 1.5 tsp. paprika, 1 tsp. salt (or less to taste), 1/2 tsp. black pepper, 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper. Treat yourself by topping the chicken with Parmigiano Reggiano cheese before putting it in the oven. (Found this in a cookbook I don’t have handy right now or I’d credit it)

I think you’re reading that wrong. It says if there’s a vacancy, the governor must order a special election to fill it, but the legislature may (not must) provide for him to make a temp appt to fill the spot until the special election can be held. KY just opted not to provide for temp appts anymore.

And correct me if I’m wrong, but the way I read this, she’s saying, “you know I’ll vouch for this case *the same way I’ve vouched for other ones in the past*.” bsky.app/profile/jons...

It’s not uncommon for a clerk to have authority to decide routine things (like short extensions of time) on their own and/or to be deputized by the judges to just put a signature on an order that a judge has reviewed & approved. Usually will be set out in the court’s local rules/internal procedures.

I also wasn’t sure whether I’d still have immunity, and I didn’t get a blood test - just made an appointment at my local pharmacy to get it done, and I ran into no issues! I figured better safe than sorry. FYI, my insurance covered it with no copay.

Also, even if they correctly identified “close” precincts, I’m not convinced it would help the “steal the election” folks if a middle-class white suburbanite, normally tuned out of politics, swing voter’s last sight before entering the polling place is their POC neighbors being harassed by ICE.

Very unusual. When I’ve seen an answer struck, it’s been for misconduct the D directly participated in (e.g. discovery). I wonder if this judge thought, “this is a sophisticated party whose officers knew by this point who they had hired, so they must’ve been fine with this BS done in their name.”

Is there even a coherent theory of why the admin & Rs would want to cancel midterms? It’s hard to imagine 100s of R incumbents going along with being forced out of their jobs just out of a fear that some small proportion of them might lose those jobs to people less friendly to the president’s aims
