Plus, jamming it all in together in one building would mean that it's going to be jammed with people in a way that lines are all mixed up and confusing and overwhelming and you can't get any relief because you can't see the sky. But maybe that's just my sensory self speaking.

I've tried so many times to google "what should I make for dinner tonight?" and it has not once been a satisfying experience. AI cannot address the fact that I do not actually want to make dinner tonight and nothing will ever sound good unless someone else just makes it and brings it to me.

I love how supportive you are to a stranger! here is my first self-portrait attempt - trying some younger images - I was surly as a kid - which I think comes thru but I’m not skilled enough to capture my baby face. Yet.

I have been watching "Portrait Artist of the Year" (BBC and Australian versions) and have been planning to try a self-portrait experiment too! I've been doing "animal portraits" (I've painted them without their permission - 😬) e.g., this octopus. Will report back on self-portrait results.

Llama (seriously, every time I’m painting, I think of seeing your art online and wanting to join in)

A while back, I was inspired by your art journey and started my own. I'm not good, but my wife tells me that whenever I'm painting, I have a really sweet smile on my face. The act of the painting immediately shifts my mood. So thank you. And here is a painting of a chicken I did the other week.

My second wind is so far gone, it took me several beats before I even knew what you were talking about. Like I don’t even remember what it feels like to have that capacity. And I turn 60 this summer. :/

Olivia Dean keeps coming up in my algorithm- idk if she fits the idea you’re talking about - but she can def sing and I enjoy her music a lot.

I asked my boss if I could waste time on the internet rather than writing this report and she said, "OK, but you have to feel really bad about it, and ruin your holiday because you're not writing it now." She's kind of a bummer, tbh.

My dad has taken to jokingly talk about how (white) men are silenced/stifled/not allowed to exist/whatever. It's annoying when he does bc what? But there is a vibe of dismissal/eyerolling at white men and their thoughts/feels and that must feel yucky/hurtful and makes them forget their privilege.

My dad is almost 80 and is very adept with his apple watch. He got it originally because of AFib. Though, now I'm going to ask him if he has the fall detection thing on it so it can message me or whatever.

Does this imply, though, that progressive voters are more nuanced and aware of policy positions/votes than moderate voters? Or simply that there are more moderate-focused voters? I have been moving rather steadily further and further left politically, and "moderate branding" feels misaligned for me.

That was cold and brilliant.

You have definitely inspired me. My kid asked me yesterday what was something I really want for Christmas and I told her to get me some art supplies. I have no idea what I'm doing, but seeing your posts charged something in me. SO, THANK YOU!

That is so beautiful!

I have had something for a few weeks - not flu not covid - general aches, congestion, weird digestive stuff and whatnot, but have been wondering if it’s enterovirus? I think the one going around has respiratory stuff and it apparently lasts a long time. I’m pretty tired of it.

Yeah I didn’t start til this year. I’m 59. So.

You have to run nowadays. Jogging is too lackadaisical for this rise and grind country. Or you have to lift. Because if you don't lift, then your body will completely fall apart by the time you're 55.

I'm really enjoying book three! In fact, I stayed up way too late last night reading. Excellent storytelling!

This is so great - thank you for taking the time to reply! I'll do some more research :)

I'm very interested in your art/craft journey. I'm interested in exploring more creative activities for this next year - are there particularly fun, but low-cost/low-burden art modalities you would suggest based on your experience? The gel plate thing looks cool - but not sure about it for starting?
